Introduction

Hello peeps! I am going to start with my most favourite South Korean drama ever which is A Gentleman’s Dignity, a 2012, a romantic comedy drama aired on SBS lead by Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ha Neul. It is seriously a drama full of humour and reality that will hit us sometimes-only to realise how true the reality is like in episode 5, where all the lead actors-aged 40 years old sit around in a cafĂ© only to talk about the Hallyu wave-KPOP idols, Girls Generations where they look like having an important meeting. This scene seriously never failed to crack me up! For every episodes, they start with a short preview of their daily lives, from the past and present, also the highlight of their lives. Wow! It is so refreshing to see how the producers are able to come up with that ideas!

Beginning

This drama is about 4 men who have befriended with each other ever since 18 years old who are in their forties living their lives in this modern society, Kim Do Jin(Jang Dong Gun)- an architect, Choi Yoon(Kim Min Jong)- a lawyer, Kim Su Ro( Im Tae San)- an engineer and Lee Jong Hyuk(Lee Jung Rok)- a wealthy man? (Seriously I don’t know his exact job since he is wealthy and get married to a rich woman- even so, a flirty man I must say he is). The love triangle or love rectangle between Jang Dong Guk towards a high school teacher, Seo Yi Soo, who has a crush on Im Tae San since she is also the umpire for baseball match which participated by Im Tae San and friends and a teacher to Im Tae San’s younger sister- Im Meari who has crush on Choi Yoon ever since small. However, knowing the fact that Im Tae San and Hong Se Ra are dating, Seo Yi Soo backed off and started to have a crush back on Jang Dong Gun.


The moment when the everlasting friendship starts.


Climax

The climax of this story begins when Colin, a Japanese boy, Colin who is the son of the 4 men’s first love, Kim Youn Hee, came to South Korea and looked for his father which is apparently one of the men. The romantic relationship between Jang Dong Gun and Seo Yi Soo get interrupted when the truth behind the real identity of Colin’s father is revealed which turned out to be Jang Dong Gun. Got frustrated by the fact, Seo Yi Soo acted cool in the relationship while Jang Dong Gun tried his best to be responsible towards his son and act as how a father should be like, with the help of the his friends of course.

Ending

It is where everyone get together which means Choi Yoon got married with Im Meari- apparently Colin’s first love. Im Tae San and Hong Se Ra are going to get married after finding out that Se Ra is pregnant. Meanwhile, the married couple, Lee Jong Ruk and Park Min Sook settled down and had plan for adoption programme in South Africa. Moving on to the lead couple- Kim Do Jin proposed to Seo Yi Soo for many times before she could say YES!- I just do not understand why it took so long for her to say yes, geez. A perfect proposal with the help of a bunch of lovely and helpful acquaintances- no one would say no I guess!

Personal Rant
  • §  I love how I can keep watching this drama effortlessly and mesmerized with their endless humour and friendship moments
  • §  The more I watch this drama, the more I find all these men are charming- I mean, their personalities, their senses, their responsibilities- putting aside the jerks moments, I think they are so much likeable! – sorry, too much of ‘their’ words
  • §  The plot is quite easy to understand and interesting although I find it is quite a wasteful and frustrating to see the earlier episodes of Yi Soo could not get over her crush on Im Tae San
  • §  The great choice of actors and actress I must say!

Final Suggestion

A great drama to watch when you want something light and easy to digest. Some people would find it bored as it is a drama of men in their forties, but, trust me, the judgment will quickly dissolve once you go through up to the half drama ;). I personally re-watch it few time though :)



I personally love this field kinda scene :)

A Fresh Start
